Penn & Teller — Fool Us is a competition for magic TV show that features magicians who perform tricks in front of American magic veteran duo Penn & Teller. The initial season was masterfully hosted by Jonathan Ross, and the third season by Fool Us Hostess Alyson Hannigan.
Each episode starts off with an introduction that explains the purpose of the series. Penn & Teller come out and sit down at the stage. The hopeful magicians perform their act before them, in front of an audience in the studio. After each show, Penn & Teller privately talk while the host interview the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal whether they are aware of how the trick was executed, typically using cryptic words or by recording the technique and then present it to the magicians to confirm, the method, in order to avoid divulging the secrets behind the trick.
Season four will begin filming on October 27, 2022.

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and at the Penn and Teller Theater at Las Vegas (season two onward). Following each show, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was accomplished, the magician(s) who performed the trick get the Fool Us trophy and a five-star trip in Las Vegas to perform as the opening act for Penn & Teller’s show also at the Rio Hotel & Casino.
The 10th season began on October 7, 2021.
Teller notes that the doublespeak can be used to instruct people on new techniques without revealing the secret.
If the trick is authentic, or if Penn & Teller are unable to determine how it was done the magician is awarded the Fool Us award and the chance to be the opening act for Penn & Teller’s Las Vegas show.
A backstage judge, who is well-versed in the art of magic, and who has seen the trick before the show is able to make any necessary adjustments, determining if Penn & Teller were fooled and, if so, to what degree.
After every show, Penn & Teller perform an original magic act.
For the first season, Jonathan Ross served as a temporary replacement for Penn and Teller’s hosting duties, but they returned for the second season.
The film was shot at Fountain Studios in London, England for its first season, before relocating to the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada for the second season, and later seasons.

Season three onward, from season three, the top 10 performers who fooled Penn and Teller are invited back for an exclusive episode on Fool Us in which they each get to show off their tricks again and try to fool Penn & Teller for an additional $15000 prize.
Even though they remain quiet and motionless throughout the course in the production, the veteran duo of Penn & Teller will communicate with one other through subtle gestures. They also may talk to a magician that is performing and request for them to repeat a specific action or provide more information.
